My Blog

I have never in my life been to a pumpkin patch, but apparently, here in Texas, they are the Fall thing to do and they are freaking everywhere.  In the past week, we’ve been to two different ones, each about 20 miles away (in opposite directions, of course).

The first one we went to, the Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch, was very very crowded (not surprising for a Sunday afternoon), but it had the bonus of being free.  There were lots of activities like hayrides and bounce houses, but of course Evelyn was still too young to really understand or enjoy any of them.  I’m sure next year will be a different story.  In the meantime, I got my wish of taking pictures of Evelyn surrounded by pumpkins.  Besides being crowded, it was also very hot and windy, and it wasn’t long before Evy got very cranky and we had to leave.  Let’s just say she was not a happy camper on the car ride home.

A few days later, we went to the Big Orange Pumpkin Farm in Celina with our regular playgroup of nine other moms and babies.  This one did charge admission, but included feed for the petting zoo animals, a hayride (which we skipped) and a small pumpkin.  It was much much colder than when we went the other day, and we had to bundle up a little to stay warm.  It was also pretty fun, although a little more difficult to wrangle so many babies.

Pumpkin Patch
